Happy International Women’s Day!
To celebrate International Women’s Day I am going to tell you about some of my role models. So in no particular order:
1. Emily Pankhurst – she was an English political activist and is know for organising the UK suffragette movement
2. Emily Davidson – she was an martyr for the suffragette movement in order to get the rights for women’s votes within England
3. Rosa Parks – she fought for equal rights in America for refusing to give up her seat during the Montgomery bus boycott
4. Katherine Johnson – she was an American mathematician who helped to calculate the orbital mechanics for NASA in order to complete the success of the first US crewed spaceflight
5. Malala Yousafzai – she helps to fight for human rights especially for women and children’s education from the Taliban
6. all the women in my family including my Mum, my Grandma and my Nan (who’s birthday is today – Happy Birthday Nanny!)
A very busy half term
This past week, I’ve been busy with my half term. From completing homework, to watching some new Netflix shows as well as meeting up with a few of my friends. Last Saturday, I went for a meal with a few of my friends which became eventful as we forgot to check if the 40% off voucher was valid on a Saturday. On the Monday, I met with a few of my friends who had moved to different schools for sixth form. it was lovely to catch up over coffee. On Wednesday, I went to a swimming pool with water slides but my friends and I were sad as the wave machine was not working.
On Friday, I met with some more of my friends who had moved schools and we went bouldering before heading to the Cathedral to see the light show display. In the evening I went to my friends Birthday Party and met many new people. On Saturday evening, I met with another friend from school over coffee to catch up.
Finally, today has been an inset day so I’ve had the chance to finish my homework and prepare for school tomorrow. A recent series I have been watching is Locke and Key as well as The Stranger. I also watched the movie Midnight Sun. Overall, I have had a good half term and am ready to get back to school as I am now officially half way into year 12.
Happy Founders Day!
Today across the world we celebrate Founder Day. Robert Baden Powell was born on February 22nd 1857. However, previously I have celebrated World Thinking Day – which is the Guiding version of Founders Day after, Robert Baden Powell’s wife, Olave – whom also has the same birthday just in 1889.
I like to spend today thinking about my fellow Scouts and Guides from around the World. Having had the opportunity to attend WSJ2019 I feel honoured to be part of such a giant group of people.
Tea for Blue
Howdy Blue here,
84’s been a busy 🐝 recently, so I’ve taken over the reins again.
84 has told me that if I’m doing a take over I have to blog about something useful. Well I nearly said phnh to that but then I had an idea – I’m going to share with you how I make the perfect cup of tea.
Apologies in advance if I miss a few steps but I’m only a little bear. 🐻
Step one:
Fill the kettle with water and turn on the kettle.
Step two:
While waiting for the water to boil, get a mug and place a tea bag in it.
Step three:
Now here’s the shocker place your desired amount of milk into the mug.
Step four:
When the water has boiled, pour it into the mug.
Step five:
Leave the tea to brew for a few minutes
Step six:
Stir the tea to see how strong it is – check the colour I like mine strong so leave the teabag in for a while.
Step seven:
When the tea is the desired strength remove the teabag
Step eight:
Leave to cool for a short time – nobody likes a burnt tongue.
Finally enjoy the perfect cup of tea.

Happy Palindrome Day

Some of you are aware that my name is also a palindrome.
Palindrome comes from the Greek palin, meaning again and dromos, meaning way or direction.
So I thought today I’d share a few more examples with you

On the crest of a wave
So this week I have become involved in my district’s gang show. I am now a tea girl for the Sunday session as well as helping with the set painting and decorating as well as maybe being backstage during show week. Now Sis84 I do not think is very happy with me due to gang show being her thing due to her performing on stage. Nevertheless, I have started making paper cranes for one of the scenes as we need 1001 of them. I am aiming to be able to say that I have made 20% of the cranes on the stage but I have lost count of how many paper cranes I have already made. However, Mum84 has made 10 cranes so she is able to say that she has made 1% of the total cranes. Whilst I was making some of the cranes, Blue came along with me and made friends with Olivia the rainbow from a different unit to Mum84’s unit.
World Scout Jamboree (mini) reunion
A couple of weeks ago, I met with some of my World Scout Jamboree unit in Birmingham. The reunion included Blue the bear and if you remember Brian the flamingo. Yes, you read that right, we walked around Birmingham with a flamingo and a bear.
We started the day off with coffee before then heading to do a little bit of shopping. We went into the Worlds largest Primark where there was a Disney café, a Harry Potter section, and over 5 floors of clothing and sales. In the make up section, we decorated Brian (the flamingo) with some of the eyeshadow before we headed to get some food to eat. The downfall here was, we all agreed to meet at McDonalds, except we went too 2 different stores – however, En route we did see a Santander building. (I’m still a proud member of the International Anthony Santander Fan Club)!
After lunch we did a bit more shopping and went into all 3 Pandora shops looking for a charm for my friend. In the end, we managed to find the charm in one of the shops. We then wondered around for a little while before, one of my friends brothers (who did attend WSJ) met up with us and so he took a photo of us by the Bullring statue. We all then wondered around for a bit more until it was nearly time to leave – in order for everyone to be able to get the right trains home as in the morning there was a little bit of a train issue.
A couple of us went into Tesco Express before saying goodbye where we brought a meal deal to share between us all. The chicken and bacon sandwich was very nice – thank you! It was then time to say our goodbyes before everyone headed home.
As I then went to meet my parents, we spotted some bears in H&M home, so conveniently, Blue had to have a photo with them. Also, as we headed home we stopped at IKEA for our usual rendezvous before continuing to head home.
A round up of my Decade
I honestly do not know where this decade (and year has gone).
Within this decade I have started (and completed) Secondary and Junior school and completed many exams. I have been on residentials to an RAF camp for a week as well as a Cyber camp.
This decade has also seen 2 Summer Olympics (including one being held in the UK) as well as the Winter Olympics. The Rugby World Cup in 2015 was also held in the UK and I was lucky enough to see the match of USA v Japan. I then saw the similar match held this year from watching it on the ITV app during school.
I have been on many Scout camps this decade in different extreme weather. From Snow camp, to my first Evolution camp in the high temperatures. I have also camped across the country including camping at Gillwell, up and around Shropshire as well as around my own County. I have attended a mini Jamboree near Birmingham (called BrumJam) as well as attending the World Scout Jamboree – my greatest achievement this decade.
This year I completed my GCSEs, attended the 24th World Scout Jamboree, started Sixth form, kept writing blog posts and been up and discovered many new music, shows and information. I also continued taking my many different photographs as well as adopting Blue the bear.
I am very grateful for all the people I have met this year and within the decade and wish everyone the best for the new year!
Goodbye 2019. Hello 2020.
I hope everyone has had an amazing Christmas and have a happy new year! Personally I enjoyed Christmas this year with my extended family and so we travelled down to the Jurassic Coast.
Halfway through our journey on the way I realis ed we had forgotten the strawberries needed for the Boxing day trifle and so we ended up in a Waitrose service station buying strawberries and a few other snacks to keep us going on our journey. It is also worth mentioning that we took our cats down with us so my cat Hallie kept yowing for attention.
Once we arrived, and the cats had settled, we headed to my Grandma’s for Christmas lunch. I helped with the washing up and then headed out to the beach to take a mini Christmas walk. On the beach there was lots of driftwood from the recent storms which they have had. I then saw my cousin and a different auntie before we headed back to where we were staying. In the evening, we watched Call the midwife (a yearly tradition) before I headed to bed.
Boxing day, is my favourite day of the year. I woke up and was asked whether I wanted to go to the pub (with some of my family) where our discussion included: ‘did the moon landing really happen’, ‘aritificial intelligence’, ‘aliens’ etc. After this we went for my Nans infamous Boxing day lunch. There was: turkey, beef, ham, jacket potatoes, chips, sausages, crisps, fruit and vegetables, stuffing, cranberry sauce, bread sauce, sausage rolls,cheese and onion rolls and more. And then for dessert there was freshly made trifle and crumble.
Afterwards, some of my cousins and I slowly stole the Lindt chocolates from their knitted cases and replaced the chocolates with grapes, a tomato and baubles. (UPDATE: Classified)
In the afternoon, we played a game of charades as a family and then in the evening we watched Paddington 2.
The next day we explored the Jurrasic Coast and headed first to Swanage to go to Wimpy’s for lunch. In Swanage we bought rock as well as walked along the beach and went into the arcade to play on the 2p falls. We then drove past Corfe Castle on the way to a lost village.
The village was Tyneham and had been evacuated during the Second World War to help with military practices. As we entered there were loads of warning signs as the area was now a MOD range. After this visit, we headed towards Durdle Door however, we went to the beach before this and ended up in Lulworth Cove.
We then returned home the next day, after I had the opportunity to stand on the roof due to a suspected leak. It was nice taking our cats with us and they thoroughly enjoyed exploring a new house.
