24th World Scout Jamboree

In Autumn 2017 I was selected as one of 45 Scouts and Explorers to represent Gloucestershire at the 24th World Scout Jamboree being held at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, USA.

The UK sent a contingent of 4,000 made up of 100 Units of 40. Each unit was formed from 4 Patrols containing 9 Scouts and Explorers plus a Leader. There were over 40,000 attending from around the world, not including all the support teams as well.

Since Gloucestershire sent more than a single unit we also formed part of a joint unit along with Scouts and Explorers from Shropshire.

It was this joint unit – Unit 82 “Double Blue” – that I am a member of.
